i think one of our main missions as must.not.die. is to inject a little bit more funk into sacramento. a little bit more soul. a little bit more hip hop and rnb. there’s really no need to have an aversion to that shit. it’s really good.
that said, we try to pick out very good entry level drugs. slowly slip them in. this is one of them. got a slick guitar indie top 40 kids would dig… crazy ass bass… and just fucking slick ass vocals.
can’t tell you how much i love those vocal glitches too. sooo good.

today, the california supreme court struck down a law banning gay marriage.
thank god.
humanity seems to grow through a pendulum-like process of synthesis. we swing back and forth between times of dizzying progress (the renaissance, age of reason) only to get scared by the dangers of a new frontier. that’s when we cling to the things we once knew… swinging back to a reactionary/conservative period (romanticism, now). as frustrating as it is, it’s good to see that over time… the general trend is towards more human freedom and the exercise of reason.

“clusterfuck” is probably the best word to describe the first half of this song. it’s just a mess. it’s like walking into a cafeteria after the kids had a massive food fight and being completely rapt in disgust.
okay, maybe i’m being too harsh. either way, i found it in me to keep going. i said “you know… i was spoon fed phil collins since i existed, i think i owe it to the guy”. about 1:35 things change drastically.
“OHHHH SHITTT! it’s fucking PHIL COLLINS… AND HE’S ROLLING WITH A CREW OF INCREDIBLY LEGIT B BOYS WHO ARE GOING TO BLOW-YOUR-FUCKING-MIND.” it’s like they took him captive and reprogrammed his brain circuitry to be “the phil collins you don’t want to run into if you’re in a musical about street gangs”.

i love these guys because they let you indulge your appetite for the bizarre and weird… but never ask you to stop shaking your ass. a lot of mixes dream of being this artistic and important but then wake up in a cold sweat to realize all they did was slap together whatever songs were popular on the hype machine and called it a day.
this mix does double duty: a complete mind fuck AND a solid dance mix. they’re throwing out a lot of VERY interesting ideas when it comes to our concept of sound and what we call music… but in a very accessible and friendly way. the energy is always open and never closed. you’re invited into a universe where you don’t have to do any work… you just join in the fun.
expect gigantic huge fucking monolithic things from these guys. if there’s any justice in the world, this is where music is going.

this is a tough one. two very distinct songs. one you have a very firm relationship with… gui boratto’s “beautiful life”. what i ABSOLUTELY love about this song is the exercise it forces you to do. it doesn’t just make you look at “beautiful life” in a different context… but in an entirely different rhythmic pattern. it plays off beat from what you expect… doing something you’re not used to. it is different… changed by the magnetism of the other song. two become one… forming something unique and spellbinding.
this is the future of the mash up.
i will be frank: i thought thehoodinternet had fell off for a while. now, each week they’re getting stronger and more skillful. all that practice is paying off… and these guys are becoming more than a novelty act. real talent is shining through (like all their other lykke li mash ups)

despite obama having the most pledged delegates, the most superdelegates, the most states, and the most votes… hillary clinton is DEFINITELY going to pull this one off.
you know why? because hillary clinton has a more powerful coalition of thoughtful voters… the most important bloc being the “racist vote“:

if hipster’s are missing any essential vitamins in their diet, it’s this. this shit fucking kicks. solid rhythm section that’s smooth as fuck. amazing and PASSIONATE vocals. I know… god forbid a song with a tone that’s something other than defeat, anger, lust, confusion, or whatever self-inflicted weak emotion is hovering over your holocaust body this week.
this is the type of shit i play to gut check a crowd: if you’re a music fan… you keep moving. and you love every minute of it.
if you aren’t… you go outside and smoke cigarettes… talking shit with your friends about how thurston moore TOTALLY wants you to move to new york so you can show him your amazing demos. then this:
